PAU SOLA-MORALES (Spain), 14.30-15.30h

"Among the many consequences of the introduction of computers in architecture, one of the

most interesting is the slow transformation of Project into Process. This discussion, which

has only started, can lead us to unexpected theoretical conclusions."

NEIL LEACH (UK) - "New Materialism"

"Within contemporary architectural design a significant shift in emphasis can be detected – a move away from an architecture based on purely visual concerns towards an architecture justified by its performance. Structural, constructional, economic, environmental and other parameters – concerns that were once relegated to the realm of secondary concerns - have become primary, and are being embraced as positive inputs into the design process from the outset. Architecture – it would seem - is no longer so preoccupied with style and appearance. It is as though a new paradigm has emerged."

24 September (USA), 14.30-15.30h

TED KRUEGER - "Computation, Embodiment and Architecture"

"While architecture, as an applied discipline, has had limited success in developing both its own technologies and theoretical positions, it has borrowed heavily from the culture that surrounds it. It is far from unique among disciplines in this opportunism. Patterns of thought, materials and techniques frequently move from one discipline to another and in the adoption, most often follow a common developmental trajectory."
