“Contemporary cities have on the current platforms storied as distinct. Aspect that leads to ambiguity in the intervening dimension at historic centers. Thus we hold as objective to present a set of postures that break with the current dichotomy between the gesture of renew and the memory of the historic center, as wellas determine the importance of (re) location the role of architecture in theseinterventional proposals. To this end, we select the Detailed Plan of the Central Zone of Aveiro, 1963, authoredby architect Fernando Tavora, for being an essential reference in the national urbanrenewal by providing the integration of new architectural models in urban consolidated, and proceeded to the analysis of certain postures and current proposals for nationalintervention, where as in both cases the temporal and geographical scale at which theybelong. The comparison of these two moments of intervention allows us to understand andcaveat in conclusion, that operate in contemporary historical center means that musthave the passage of block scale / object to the city. Given the duality respect /replacement or demolition / new construction, architectural intervention should in ourview, support is also a wider view, considering aspects such as the scale of interventionand the possible replacement or reinterpretation of the function of the building where, the result could be a gesture of appreciation on the replacement values, not justbelonging to a past but a contemporary and future.
